Establishment of the Joint Business Council took place in Beijing during the State visit of the President of Ukraine to China(September 2-5, 2010) within the framework of Ukrainian-Chinese business forum with the participation of top state leaders of both countries, representatives of leading companies and enterprises of Ukraine and China. On September 3, 2010 an Agreement on the Establishment of the Joint Business Council was signed between the Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (UCCI) and the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT). Thus, as it was noted in the document, the aim of the business community of Ukraine and China to create a joint initiative to strengthen bilateral trade and economic relations was fulfilled and will help to maintain a constant dialogue and cooperation between businessmen and industrialists of both countries.
On December 9, 2010 after the founding general meeting in the building of the Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Kyiv, Ukrainian part of the United Ukrainian-Chinese Business Council (UCBC) has started its activity. As a result, the Regulations on Ukrainian Part of the UCBC was approved, also leaders of the Council were elected and preparations for the inaugural joint meeting of the UCBC were considered.
On April 20, 2011 within the framework of the visit of Zhang Dejian, the Vice-Premier of the State Council of the People's Republic of China to Ukraine accompanied by a large business delegation of this country, the Ukrainian-Chinese Business Forum and the grand inaugural Joint meeting of the Ukrainian-Chinese Business Council (UCBC) took place. Participants of this event were members of Ukrainian Government, the UCCI, Ukrainian part of UCBC, Mr. Zhang Wei, the Vice-president of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT), Mr. Ren Hongbin, the head of the Chinese Part of the Business Council, representatives of more than 300 Ukrainian and Chinese companies which operate in industry, construction, transport and communications, finance and others spheres. During the forum the Chinese guests emphasized the great interest in deepening and diversification of co-operation with the Ukrainian side, communication, increase of commodity circulation between the countries. During the plenary session Heads of the Ukrainian and Chinese sides signed a Memorandum on realization of constituent assembly of the UCBC. Also the event included numerous bilateral business negotiations between Ukrainian and Chinese businessmen.
On July 2, 2013 in Kyiv during the visit of Chinese business delegation led by Mr. Yuy Ping, the Vice-President of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT), the second meeting of the Ukrainian-Chinese Business Council (UCBC) and the Ukrainian-Chinese Business Forum with participation of Ukrainian and Chinese businessmen was held. The Chinese delegation headed by the President of the corporation SINOMACH (with the rank of minister) Mr. Ren Hongbin, the co-Chairman of the UCBC, included representatives of 20 leading companies and organizations of China who operate in the field of engineering, construction, space satellites, agriculture, trade, services and etc. The Ukrainian side was represented by the leadership of the Ukrainian CCI, representatives of the Parliament, the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade, the State Agency for Tourism and Resorts and also around 50 Ukrainian companies. During the event, both sides noted the positive trend towards strengthening economic relations between Ukraine and China in the last three years. Considerable attention was paid to the problems which affect the commodity circulation and investment in economic projects of both countries. Also the conditions and prospects of implementation of various joint Ukrainian-Chinese projects were discussed within the context of a comprehensive Program of strategic partnership implementation between Ukraine and China for 2013-2017 years, elaborated in view of the upcoming presidential visit to China.
During 2011-2013 members of the Ukrainian Part of the UCBC took an active part in the organization and conducting of bilateral activities at the international and intergovernmental levels, annual Ukrainian-Chinese Business Forums, different exhibitions, conferences and meetings of the Ukrainian and Chinese business communities.
It was provided the development, generalization and submission of the Ukrainian business community’s proposals to implement a comprehensive five-year program of strategic partnership between Ukraine and China.
Initiated and maintained by UCBC were visits of the authorized delegations of the Chinese National Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries - CNAFFC (2011), the People's Government of Guangdong Province and CCPIT Guangdong (2011 and 2013), the People's Government of Shandong Province (2012), the People's Government of Sichuan Province (2012), China National Corporation for Overseas Economic Cooperation - CCOEC (2011-2013) to Ukraine (Kiev region, Lugansk, Cherkassy and Ivano-Frankivsk region), China National Corporation for hydroelectric engineering and construction SINOHYDRO (Kyiv, Cherkasy region, Dnipropetrovsk, 2011-2012), SANY Group companies for the production of special construction equipment & technology (2011-2012.), leading Chinese drilling and mining equipment producing Corporation HONGHUA GROUP (2011-2012) included the preparation and signing of documents on co-operation with Ukraine’s regional State administrations.
The participation of the Ukrainian corporate delegations in Chinese export and import international exhibitions in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangdong Province (including famous CANTON FAIR exposition), Shaanxi, Zhejiang, Fujian was initiated and supported.
After a certain pause and period of uncertainty that have objective reasons in 2014, the Ukrainian part of the UCBC take measures to restore and revitalize its activity. In particular, in July 2015 it held a general meeting of its members which resulted in changing of leadership, approving a new composition of the Coordination Committee and amending the Regulation on the Ukrainian Part of the UCBC.
During August 24-31, 2015 the Ukrainian delegation of the UCBC, led by its head - Mr.Robert Brovdi, visited the capital of China with eight-day working visit, within which numerous meetings and negotiations with top-representatives of the Chinese authorities, business associations and business community of China were held.
On August 26, 2015 in Beijing the official meeting and negotiating between co-Chairmen of the Ukrainian-Chinese Business Council - Mr. Ren Hongbin (the head of the Chinese Part of the UCBC, the Chairman of the China National Machinery Industry Corporation (SINOMACH) and Mr. Robert Brovdi (the head of the Ukrainian Part of the UCBC, the Chairman of the Association of Ukrainian-Chinese cooperation) were held. Thus, contacts and direct dialogue were restored at the top-management level of two Parts of the UCBC and the format and directions of further joint activities were defined.
