The delegation of the Ukrainian part of Ukrainian-Chinese Business Council (UCBC) chaired by its head Robert Brovdi has paid eight-day working visit to Beijing started with attending the official reception on the occasion of Ukraine Independence Day in the Embassy of Ukraine in China.
On August 24, 2015 this event was attended by about 300 guests including official representatives of the Chinese authorities (NPC, CPC Central Committee, Central executive authorities of PRC); the ambassadors, military attaches and diplomats of foreign countries; representatives of scientific and business circles, cultural figures; leading Chinese media, as well as Ukrainians who live in Beijing. The team of Ukrainian sportsmen - participants of the 15th World championship in athletics which was held in the capital of China at the same time - was also attending the event.
All guests were congratulated by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to China Mr.Oleg Dyomin. After minute of silence which was a tribute to the Ukrainian people and solidarity with their struggle for freedom, he thanked the Chinese leadership for their continued commitment to the principle of territorial integrity of Ukraine. Amb.Oleg Dyomin said that despite external aggression and annexation of the part of its territory, Ukraine is ready to proceed with the promotion of the policy of openness and co-operation with all friendly countries.
Deputy Chairman of NPC External Relations Committee Mrs. Zhao Baige said in her turn that China’s Government supports and will continue supporting Ukraine in its choice to live in peace, harmony, actively working for the welfare of its people, because China is aware of the great history of Ukraine and is confident of its bright future.
She also stressed that the goal of the Chinese initiative of the Economic zone of Silk Road is not only the development of the Chinese economy, but also the development of all partner countries. According to her, Ukraine will be able not only to fulfill its potential within this ambitious project, but also strengthen the Chinese-Ukrainian relations.
After the official part of the celebration, there was an impromptu flash mob with the participation of Ukrainian athletes called "Ukraine is a victory".
Within the event, the leaders of UCBC Ukrainian part Mr.Robert Brovdi and amb. Igor Lytvyn held a few short protocol meetings and talked to the representatives of the Chinese business circles. Besides, an arrangement was reached on coordination of actions and joint activities of the Ukrainian-Chinese Business Council and the Embassy of Ukraine in China aimed at deepening and intensification of business co-operation between Ukraine and China.
